About the Programme This degree brings new elements of tourism to the fore, combining customer service and hospitality with event management and other key factors related to the entertainment arena. The modules are stimulating and thought-provoking, covering essential and specialist business themes. Students will also study strategic thinking, tourism, contemporary issues in hospitality management and strategic marketing. The hospitality, tourism and event management degree provides practical opportunities to develop students’ creativity, resourcefulness, curiosity and ability to contribute to the ongoing growth of hospitality, tourism and events management. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE This is a top-up final year degree programme for SHRM Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management graduates. The programme includes 4 modules and 1 dissertation to be conducted over 3 semesters in 12 months. 1 semester = 4 months Each semester consists of 12 teaching weeks and 4 break weeks. Passing mark: 40% DURATION 12 Months MODULES Strategic Thinking (20 credits) Contemporary Issues in Hospitality Management (20 credits) Food & Drink Tourism (20 credits) Strategic Marketing (20 credits) Dissertation (40 credits) TEACHING, LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT The programme is conducted on a face-to-face basis. Teaching ratio 1:66 for lecture and tutorial class Assessment is continuous throughout each term and may include management reports, portfolios, presentations, group/ individual projects, forums, essays. PROMOTION AND GRADUATION Upon passing all the modules, the student will be awarded Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management (Top-up) Awarded by Wrexham Glyndwr University, UK GRADING SCHEME ACADEMIC REQUIREMENT SHRM Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management or Equivalent. Applicants must be at least 19 years old by 31 December in the year of enrolment. All applications are subject to university’s assessment of eligibility for entry into the programme. ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT IELTS 6.0 or Equivalent for non- native speaker and students not advancing from SHRM Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management or equivalent qualifications.
