Upgrade and equip yourself with management skills so that you know how to maintain a restaurant’s revenue, profitability and customer service, which is the KEY to managing an efficient restaurant.

Managing a restaurant successfully is heavily dependent on the restaurant manager‘s management ability. It is the restaurant manager who sets the right standard in customer service, keeps the restaurant organized, implements effective recruitment policies, and maintains hygiene control procedures. By performing these daily duties in the limelight, the restaurant manager carries the responsibilities of maintaining the restaurant’s revenue, profitability and quality goals.

To achieve this, they need to have strategic management skills to steer the restaurant in the right direction. Besides that, they need organizational skills to effectively handle day-to-day running of the restaurant. On top of this, they are also involved in developing marketing campaigns to attract new customers, to name a few.

The Diploma in Food Services Management offer by SHRM College was pre-approved by Enterprise Singapore (ESG) under the Skills Future Study Award

For Singaporean who meet the Study Awards requirement, SHRM will assist you in the application process. 

The Skillsfuture Study Awards aims to help Singaporeans, who have worked in the F&B Industry for more than 3 years and who currently holds the position as Senior Waiter, Restaurant Manager, Chef, etc. to upgrade both their knowledge and skills as well as to acquire a recognized qualification. The $5,000 study awards will be given directly to the student to defray the cost of the course fee.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The 10- module course is  designed to produce graduates who shall eventually take on specialized Food and Beverage roles in the hospitality industry.

The course equips students with hands-on knowledge in all operational aspects of the Food and Beverage sector within the hospitality industry. This is to provide students with a strong in-depth foundation of the industry sector required to manage a restaurant or food and beverage department. 

This course is also targeted at Food and Beverage professionals who has experience in the industry but with no formal related training or education. 

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The 10 modules are conducted over 4 terms in 6 months via blended learning delivery mode. Classes are conducted on a part-time basis between Mondays to Thursdays.

 

MODE OF DELIVERY

The programme is conducted on a face-to-face basis as well as e-learning. Students will attend lectures and practical classes as well as complete the suite of elearning lessons for the various modules. Class size is kept to not more than 20 students for practical classes and a maximum of 66 students for lecture classes.


AWARD OF QUALIFICATION

Upon passing all the modules in the course students will be awarded the Diploma in Food Services Management.

ASSESSMENT

Students are assessed with a mixture of continuous assessments throughout each term in the form of case studies, discussions, presentations, group and individual assignments, practical and theory tests. Final examinations are conducted at the end of each term.

In the event a student fails a module, the student will be given a chance to take a supplementary paper. Failing a supplementary paper will result in the student having to retake the module again.

Academic Requirements

GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Pass in English at GCE ‘O’ Levels
  • or IELTS score of 5.5
  • or an equivalent English Language Qualification

Applicants who do not meet the above English language requirements will have to undergo the SHRM English Placement Test. Based on the table below, you may be required to take the Preparatory English Language Programme.
