	ADMISSIONS // Private Education Act

	With the introduction of the new Private Education Act, enacted in December 2009, a Council for Private Education (CPE) was set to regulate the private education industry in Singapore. All Private Eductaion Institutions (PEI) are require to comply with the regulations under the Act. The Act was introduced to ensure that PEIs are of certain standards in order to protect the interests of the students enrolled in their schools. 	Under the new Private Education Act, SHRM has put the following new requirements in place:-

	1. Advisory Note to Students
	Prior to signing the Student Contract with SHRM, you are required read and sign the Advisory Note to Students. Below is a copy of the advisory note for your inspection.

	2. PEI- Student Contract
	As stipulated by CPE with the aim of enhancing the confidence of students and their parents in the quality of education in Singapore, we will enter into a standard PEI-Student Contract with our students. The contract lays out the important terms and conditions governing the relationship between the student and SHRM. We will honour all terms and conditions spelt out in the contract and in all communication materials. Your PEI- Student Contract with SHRM will clearly state the following: Course title with modules clearly listed Date of commencement and completion of each intake/ course Scheduled holidays Examination dates Name of organisation awarding the certificates Fee collection policy Refund policy Withdrawal policy Transfer policy If you are under the age of 18, you need to obtain your parent's consent before the contract can be signed.

	3. Fee Protection Scheme
	For details of the Fee Protection Scheme that SHRM has in place, please see the Fee Protection Scheme section. More information about the FPS can also be found in the FPS Instruction Manual, available at CPE’s website (www.cpe.gov.sg)

	4. Medical Insurance
