Student Orientation Programme

As part of the initiation process to become a SHRmian, you will be put through an orientation process. At the start of your journey with us, you will be initiated into the culture here at SHRM. There you will meet your new family of friends, classmates, the team at SHRM and your mentor who will, for the next two years, guide you on your growth during your stay with us. You will find out more about your programme of study and what it takes to be successful in it, and of course, the little issues with regards to school rules and academic policies.

The orientation programme for new students is a process of transformation whereby a new student is initiated into the culture at SHRM.  In the initial orientation session conducted during the first week of the new term, new students are briefed on:

  • Vision, Mission, and values of SHRM
  • The SHRM-ian Family (Organisation Chart)
  • The approach to a successful academic and professional career
  • Details of Courses and academic policies
  • Assessment policy
  • Academic progression
  • Career progression
  • Attendance policy
  •  Course deferment
  • Expulsions
  • Personal grooming and uniform
  • Discipline and personal development
  • Medical insurance
  • Fee protection scheme
  • Student grievance procedure and dispute resolution
  • Singapore laws
  • Student’s Pass

The orientation process to become an SHRMian is not restricted to just the one orientation session where school rules and programme details are shared. Here at SHRM we make it a point to have fun as part of the learning journey. At least once a term, there will be a student event, function or party for eveyone to integrate, make friends and just simply have a good time. These are usually organised by students for students. Over the next two years, you will be groomed and nurtured into a professional fit for the hospitality industry based on our values of Hardwok, Integrity, Passion and Pride (HIPP).
